Australia Bushfires - Malaysians Advised To Defer Non-Essential Travel

Wisma Putra has advised Malaysian intending to travel to areas affected by bushfires in Australia to defer non-essential travel until the situation improves. 

A seven day state of emergency has been declared by the authorities of New South Wales effective 03 January 2020 following bushfires affecting many areas in Australia especiall the east coast of the country. 

Apart from New South Wales, other badly affected areas include the state of Victoria and Australian Capital Territory (ACT).

Malaysians in the affected areas are advised to give priority to safety and security, and follow the instructions by local and regional authorities. 

Malaysians requiring consular assistance may contact the High Commission of Malaysia in Canberra, the Consulate General of Malaysia in Melbourne or the Consulate of Malaysia in Sydney.
