Yogyakarta: Monitor developments following fresh volcano activity

Guests in Central Java province and the Special Region of Yogyakarta (Java island) over the coming days should monitor developments and follow official directives following fresh volcanic activity at Mount Merapi.

An eruption occurred at 05.16 (local time) on 13 February, with ash plumes reaching around 6,561 feet (2,000 metres). Despite the eruption, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) maintained the volcano’s status at Level 2 (the second lowest level on a four-tier scale). The authorities have imposed a danger zone of two miles (3km) around Merapi.
