Malaysia Entry Requirements

Effective 20 July 2020 the following procedures are required for entry into Malaysia. 

1. All Malaysian nationals and foreigners entering Malaysia are required to undergo a mandatory PCR COVID-19 test, 3 days prior to departure.

2. Those with negative results will be allowed entry into Malaysia. The result of medical certificate issued must be in English.

3. Upon arrival, passengers whose PCR COVID-19 test results are not accepted by Ministry of Health Malaysia will be required to undergo the test again.

4. Malaysians are allowed to undergo a 14-day home quarantine at their own homes whilst foreigners who are Permanent Residents or/and their Dependants; MM2H pass holders; Diplomats and expatriate may do so at an address registered with the Ministry of Health, Malaysia.

5. Malaysians and foreigners returning to Malaysia are required to download the MySejahtera application on their phones.

6. Any exemptions (health issues or emergency situations) to the above requirements must obtain the approval of the Director General of Immigration via email to

7. Valid visa is required for visitors from countries that require visa to enter Malaysia.

8. Malaysians and Foreign Nationals who exit during the MCO from 18 March 2020 are not allowed to return to Malaysia during this RMCO period without approval from the Director General of Immigration, Malaysia.
