Day 3 - Highlights of Barcelona: Full-Day Private Tour with Lunch
After breakfast, meet your guide in the morning at your Barcelona hotel, and begin your full-day introduction to Spain's artistic seaside metropolis with a taxi ride to Plaça d’Espanya. Watch the action at this popular public gathering place that connects several major thoroughfares and was built to celebrate the 1929 International Exhibition.

Travel like a local on public transport to reach the Arc de Triomf, the starting point for a scenic walking tour that takes you through the green oasis of Ciutadella Park and the medieval labyrinth of Barcelona’s Gothic quarter. Here, explore more than 2,000 years of layered history that seeps out of narrow alleyways and neighborhood landmarks like the Cathedral of Barcelona.

Catch another taxi to reach a well-known restaurant in the city center, where you'll enjoy a typical Spanish lunch which is included. After this rejuvenating meal, spend the afternoon among the city’s celebrated modernist architecture. Stroll down the Passeig de Gràcia for a look at famous buildings including the unmistakable Casa Batlló and Pedrera apartments designed by Antoni Gaudí.

For the grand finale of the 8-hour tour, visit Gaudí’s last, unfinished masterpiece — the Sagrada Familia Cathedral. Say farewell to your guide and step inside the spectacular Gothic and Art Nouveau church to explore the highly symbolic interior independently, but the entrance ticket not included.

Day 4 - Montserrat Royal Basilica Half-Day Trip from Barcelona
Breakfast in hotel. After that, make your own arrangement to meet your guide at Calle Balmes by 9 am, 5 in central Barcelona. Depart by air-conditioned coach and head to the mountain of Montserrat, a cluster of cone-like peaks that reach up to 4,051 feet (1,235 meters) in height to the north of the city.

As you travel, pass through scenic villages and hear tales from your guide about Montserrat’s main claim-to-fame — the magnificent Royal Basilica and Monastery of Montserrat. The mountainside church and Benedictine abbey is best known for its Black Madonna (La Moroneta), a statue of the Virgin Mary that has made it one of Spain’s most popular pilgrimage sites for centuries.

Admire the epic landscapes as you ascend the mountain, and on arrival, take in the views over the countryside and Barcelona. Then, after an introduction to Montserrat’s history, use your entrance ticket to head inside and enjoy free time to explore.

Explore the vast basilica and its echoing interior, see the revered Black Madonna, a small wooden statue housed in small room, and learn the story behind this hallowed sculpture. Then, if time allows, walk up to the grotto, traditionally said to be where the statue was discovered.

You can also opt for a walk through Montserrat’s audiovisual museum to learn about the daily life of the monks, finishing at the gift shop to taste and perhaps buy some of the traditional liquors made at the monastery.

After roughly 2.5 hours of exploring independently, return to Barcelona by coach where your trip ends.
