The charming and elegant city of Adelaide provides a gateway to the world-renowned wineries of South Australia’s Barossa Valley, including Jacob’s Creek. But there is more to discover here, with a wealth of local produce on offer throughout a region scattered with picturesque cottages and verdant orchards.

Off-shore lies beautiful Kangaroo Island, famed for its wildlife viewing. Here you may be lucky enough to find kangaroos, koalas and more animals in their natural habitats. Spectacular coastlines, secluded beaches, the Remarkable Rocks and native forests complete the natural attractions of Kangaroo Island.

Sightseeing

Day 1 - Adelaide to Barossa (80km)

Collect your vehicle & commence & travel via the Chain of Ponds to the Barossa, one of Australia’s most significant wine regions. The Barossa is famous for its Shiraz, Eden Valley Riesling & other premium wines, regional produce & acclaimed restaurants. Visit well known wine producers such as Penfolds Barossa, Saltram Wine Estate, Wolf Blass & Jacob’s Creek.


Day 2 - Barossa

Today is at leisure to further explore this famous wine region. Follow one of the many food & wine trails, visit the local farmer’s markets or stop in to taste gourmet local produce at Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop. If it’s a more relaxing day you prefer, browse the galleries & museums of the Barossa or play a round of golf.

Day 3 - Barossa to McLaren Vale (124km)

Travel through the Adelaide Hills to explore some of the 33 cellar doors, vineyards & orchards. Stop at Hahndorf, the oldest surviving German settlement in Australia & sample traditional small goods or visit one of the German bakeries that line the main street. Continue onto Strathalbyn, a pretty town with many galleries, antique stores, historic architecture & cafés, before arriving at McLaren Vale.


Day 4 - McLaren Vale 

A full day to explore the famous wine region of McLaren Vale, known for its Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Merlot & Chardonnay. The region also produces exceptional fruits, olives, almonds & cheeses.


Day 5 - McLaren Vale to Kangaroo Island (74km)

Penneshaw (at Ferry terminal) to American River 40km; Flinders Chase 150km

Make your way to Cape Jervis for a 45 minute ferry to Kangaroo Island. The island is Australia’s third largest, boasting spectacular coastal scenery & landscapes, national parks, an array of local industries & abundant wildlife experiences. Visit Seal Bay Conservation Park for a chance to walk amongst Sea Lions, see the dramatic formations of Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch in Flinders National Park.


Day 6 - Kangaroo Island

Continue exploring the island at leisure. Visit the beautiful secluded beaches of the north coast or enjoy the island’s locally produced sheep cheeses & yoghurt, wine, eucalyptus oil, honey & delicious seafood. For a hit of adventure, visit Little Sahara & surf down huge sand dunes.


Day 7 - Kangaroo Island to Adelaide (107km)

Penneshaw (at Ferry terminal) from American River 40km; Flinders Chase 150km

Depart Kangaroo Island, taking the ferry from Penneshaw to Cape Jervis. Return to Adelaide at leisure.

Note: Your car is booked until tomorrow and should be returned to either the city or airport depot by the same time as it was picked up on day 1 to avoid any additional charges.
